VERGENNES — An evening of reading, laughter and chocolate chip cookies was shared last Monday between children, parents, and Vergennes Police Chief Merkel at the Bixby Library.
Rachel Plante, the Bixby Library’s librarian, handed out a stuffed animal to each child.
The evening’s event was designed to be a fun time and give kids an opportunity to meet the Chief.
Around twenty parents and their parents attended the event.
“I am and will always be an advocate of reading, as it provides so many benefits to youngsters and their future development,” said Chief Merkel.
The Bixby Library provides wonderful opportunities to both children and parents to experience the wonders of reading.
“Please take the time to read to your kids,” Chief Merkel concluded.
