NEW HAVEN — A 25-year-old New York man was arrested in New Haven following an incident yesterday.

Police say they were dispatched to assist the Middlebury Police Department with a vehicle attempting to elude them on Exchange Street at around 9:40 p.m.

The vehicle had previously hit two police cruisers.

After attempting to stop the vehicle, police were led on a brief, low-speed pursuit.

They eventually pulled the vehicle over on US Route 7 in New Haven.

The driver was identified as Justin C. Villa, of Brooklyn, NY.

While speaking with Villa, police say they detected indicators of impairment and arrested him for DUI.

He was transported to the Middlebury Police Department for processing, where he was cited to appear in court on January 6 to answer to the charge of DUI.

The Middlebury Police Department also cited Villa for additional criminal charges.
