MIDDLEBURY — A windstorm damaged property and injured a juvenile in Middlebury this afternoon.

Police say at around 1:54 p.m. they received a 911 call from a resident on Painter Road, reporting her house had been damaged by a windstorm and her child injured as a result.

Emergency crews responded to the scene but were delayed by numerous trees and power lines that had been blown across Painter Road.

The injured juvenile was ultimately transported to Porter Hospital by MREMS with what police describe as non-life-threatening injuries.

An adult at another residence reported minor injuries but declined to be transported to the hospital.

Two neighboring houses sustained major wind damage.

Painter Road between Halpin Road and Munger Street remains closed while Green Mountain Power and Town of Middlebury Department of Public Works crews work to remove fallen trees and power lines.

The National Weather Service is aware of this event and is investigating.
