Crash involving tractor-trailer in Addison knocks out power

ADDISON — A 38-year-old woman from Milton was involved in a single-vehicle tractor-trailer crash in Addison yesterday.

Police responded to the crash which took place on Vermont Route 17W at around 6:07 a.m.

According to the police report, it was found that the tractor-trailer had slid off the road and overturned adjacent to Route 17, east of the Champlain Bridge.

Police said that the driver, identified as Lisa Smith, had been transported by Bristol Rescue to UVM Medical Center for evaluation when they arrived.

Smith was headed east, attempting to negotiate the curve when the truck began to slide.

Prior to overturning, the trailer struck a utility pole, causing it to break and bring down utility cables.

Multiple residents and businesses were briefly without power.
