Deer causes rollover crash in Starksboro

STARKSBORO — A 33-year-old man from Middlebury was involved in a single-vehicle crash after hitting a deer on Vermont Route 17E on Monday.

Police responded to the crash which took place near the intersection with Old Gravel Lane in Starksboro, at around 6:36 p.m.

Police say the driver, identified as David Rossiter, was headed south around a curve when a deer ran into the road.

Rossiter attempted to avoid the deer and his vehicle subsequently left the roadway and rolled over.

Police say Rossiter was evaluated by rescue personnel and suffered only minor scrapes as a result of the crash.
