FERRISBURGH — A 48-year-old man from Burlington was arrested on multiple charges following an incident in Ferrisburgh early this morning.
Police say they attempted to conduct a traffic stop for a motor vehicle violation on U.S. Route 7 at around 1:20 a.m.
The vehicle failed to yield to law enforcement and continued through the town of Vergennes and back onto U.S. Route 7 in Ferrisburgh.
After a brief pursuit, police say the vehicle pulled over.
The driver was identified as Lawrence G. Ritchie, who was taken into custody by police.
According to the report, a passenger was requesting Ritchie to stop the motor vehicle and he refused.
Police say Ritchie was placed under arrest and transported to the New Haven barracks for processing.
He was ultimately lodged at the Chittenden County Correctional Center for outstanding arrest warrants.
He is being charged with attempting to elude, grossly negligent operation, reckless endangerment and operating while under suspension or revocation of license.
