Driver arrested for DUI following police chase in Monkton

MONKTON — A 33-year-old Addison man was arrested on multiple charges following an incident in Monkton this morning.

Police say they observed a vehicle operating at a high rate of speed on Monkton Road at around 7:30 a.m.

Police turned around and attempted to stop the vehicle.

The vehicle accelerated and failed to yield to them for several miles.

The vehicle eventually came to a stop and police identified the driver as Conrad Wells.

While speaking with Wells, police say they detected indicators of impairment.

Wells was screened for DUI and arrested for the charges of attempting to elude, negligent operation, and DUI #2.

He was transported to the New Haven barracks for processing and later released with a citation to appear in court at a later date.
