FERRISBURGH — A 74-year-old man was cited for operating under the influence of intoxicants or other substances following a crash in Ferrisburgh yesterday.

Police were called to the single-vehicle crash which took place on Middlebrook Road at around 4:29 p.m.

Police identified the driver as Wilhelm Jerger, of Ferrisburgh.

Jerger told police that prior to the crash, he was headed west at around 35-40 miles-per-hour.

Police say after investigating, Jerger failed to maintain his lane of travel, left the road and subsequently travelled into a ditch.

Police say while speaking with Jerger, they detected signs of possible impairment.

Due to injuries sustained during the crash, he was transported to UVM Medical Center where he was ultimately processed for DUI, police say.

He was released on a citation to answer the charge.

Police say Jerger was released to a responsible sober party.
