LEICESTER — A 27-year-old Middlebury man was cited for DUI following a single-vehicle crash in Leicester yesterday.
Police were dispatched to the crash which took place on Hooker Road at around 2:00 a.m.
According to the initial police report, Clinton Coley was headed south at a speed estimated to be in excess of the posted speed limit.
Coley told police that he attempted to navigate a slight curve in the road, but was unable to safely do so.
As a result, he went off the road and hit several mailboxes in the process.
Police say they observed several signs of alcohol impairment while speaking with Coley.
Coley was taken into custody for suspicion of driving under the influence and transported to the New Haven barracks for processing.
He was cited to appear in court to answer the charges of operating under the influence of intoxicants or other substance later this month.
