LEICESTER — A 42-year-old Brandon man was charged with DUI after hitting a tree in Leicester yesterday.
Police were dispatched to the crash which took place on Cram Road at around 7:52 p.m.
When police arrived on the scene, they identified the driver as Matthew Nickclaw.
Police say Nickclaw was headed west when he then lost control of his vehicle and hit a tree.
Police say they observed several signs of alcohol and drug impairment while speaking with him.
Police took Nickclaw into custody for suspicion of DUI and transported him to the New Haven Barracks for processing.
He was cited to appear in court to answer the charge of operating under the influence of intoxicants or other substances.
Police say Nickclaw was later released to a responsible sober party.
Brandon Rescue, Brandon Fire Department and the Brandon Police Department all assisted on scene with the State police.
