Huntington resident charged with stealing $17K ring

HUNTINGTON — A54-year-old man is facing multiple charges after allegedly stealing a diamond ring in Huntington last year.

On July 17, 2020, authorities were notified of a residential break-in on Main Road.

According to the report, approximately $1,100 was taken as well as a diamond ring priced at approximately $17,000.

Police say photos and a description of the ring were provided by the victims as well as shared with pawn shops in the Chittenden County area.

According to the report, a week later a man later identified as Wayne Devoid, visited Vermont Coin & Jewelers and presented the stolen ring.

Employees recognized the ring and reported it to the South Burlington Police Department.

Police say the ring was positively identified by the owners.

Following an investigation, Devoid was cited to appear in court for the charges of grand larceny, burglary, receiving stolen property.
