Man arrested for assault, threatening woman with a hatchet in Huntington

HUNTINGTON — Police say a 44-year-old man from Burlington was arrested on multiple charges following an assault that took place in Huntington yesterday.

The incident occurred at a home on Main Road at around 4:45 p.m.

According to the report, John Brown is alleged to have physically assaulted a household member and threatened her with a hatchet.

Police say Brown had also held the victim inside the house not allowing her to leave and broke her cell phone so she could not call emergency services.

He was arrested for 1st degree aggravated domestic assault, unlawful restraint, and interfering with access to emergency services.

Brown was lodged at Northwest State Correctional Facility for lack of $15,000 bail and scheduled to appear in court tomorrow.
