Middlebury man killed during crash in Panton

PANTON — A 69-year-old Middlebury man died following a crash in Panton on Sunday.

The single-vehicle crash took place on West Road at around 8:51 a.m.

The driver was identified as James Warner.

Police say Warner hit a tree before coming to rest in the center of the road.

Warner was transported to UVM Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries.

Police are still investigating this crash.

Police were assisted by members of the Vergennes Area Rescue Squad, Vergennes Fire Department, and Charlotte Volunteer Rescue Squad.
