WHITING — Police are looking for a driver who led police on a high-speed chase before crashing in Whiting on Saturday.

Police say they observed a vehicle headed north on VT Route 30 at a high rate of speed at around 12:31 a.m.

Upon activation of the RADAR device, the vehicle was clocked at 86 miles-per-hour in a posted 50 miles-per-hour zone.

Police initiated a traffic stop and went on a pursuit reaching speeds of over 100 miles-per-hour.

Later they discontinued the pursuit due to the high rate of speed and reckless operation.

After discontinuing the pursuit, police say they located the vehicle, a 2003 Ford truck, on South Bingham Street in Cornwall.

The truck had collided with a tree, and there were no occupants with the vehicle when police arrived.

The truck sustained major contact damage, and several containers of alcohol were located within and around the vehicle, police say.

A K-9 track was conducted but the driver was not located.

Police are still investigating this case.
