Police looking for suspects after 6 cows shot in Orwell

ORWELL — Six cows are reported to have been shot in Orwell last night.

The Vermont State Police responded to a report of several individuals in a pickup truck shooting cows on a property near Vermont Route 73 and Horton Road at around 11:00 p.m.

Authorities located six deceased cows with apparent bullet wounds.

Troopers checked several local farms in the area and were unable to locate the owner of the cows.

Police are being assisted by the Department of Fish and Wildlife, and are seeking information regarding the owner of the cows and individuals involved in the incident.
