MILTON — Police say they are investigating an incident in which an injured man was found earlier this week alongside Interstate 89 in Milton.

Authorities were notified by a southbound driver reporting that an injured, agitated man was on the side of the road at around 12:15 p.m.

Police identified the man as Matthew Rich, 20, of Salisbury.

Rich showed signs of impairment and was transported by Milton Rescue to the University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington for emergency care.

Police say it is unclear how Rich came to be on the interstate, and they are investigating the possibility that he may have been pushed out of a moving vehicle.

State Police were assisted on scene by the Milton Police Department and the Chittenden County Sheriff’s Office.

Police are still investigating this incident.
