Shoreham man arrested for DUI, clocked doing 104 mph

CORNWALL — A 34-year-old Shoreham man is facing charges following an incident in Cornwall yesterday.

Police say they were traveling west on VT Route 74 at around 7:25 p.m. when they observed a vehicle traveling at 104 miles-per-hour.

The speed limit in the area is posted at 50 miles-per-hour.

Police attempted to catch up to the vehicle, but quickly lost sight of it.

The vehicle was later located on Clark Road laying perpendicular to the road and partially in a ditch.

Police identified the driver as Richard Quesnel.

While speaking with Quesnel, police say they observed several signs and indicators of alcohol impairment.

He was transported to the University of Vermont Medical Center after experiencing chest discomfort.

Police say a warrant was applied for and granted for an evidentiary blood sample to be drawn.

He was issued a criminal citation to answer the charges of operating under the influence of intoxicants or other substances, grossly negligent operation, and excessive speed.
