CORNWALL — Police responded to a two-vehicle crash with injuries in Cornwall yesterday.

The crash took place on Vermont Route 125, near the intersection with Cider Mill Road at around 1:52 p.m.

According to the police report, one of the drivers, identified as Kayla Ortiz, 23, of Brooklyn, NY, was headed north on Cider Mill Road and failed to come to a stop or yield to motorists on Route 125.

Upon entering the intersection, Ortiz hit the second vehicle driven by Anita Huestis, 53, of Bridport, who was headed west on VT Route 125.

“Speed nor impairment appear to be contributing factors in this motor vehicle crash, but rather operator inattention,” a statement issued from the police reads.

Huestis was transported to the hospital for her injuries.

The Vermont State Police were assisted on scene by members of the Cornwall Fire Department and Middlebury Rescue.
