WELLS RIVER — A 77-year-old pedestrian was hit by a vehicle in Wells River on Tuesday.

The crash took place on Main Street at around 5:25 p.m.
Police say, Clarence Slater, 77, of Wells River, was stopped at the intersection of Railroad Street, waiting to turn onto Main Street north.

When he pulled forward to make the turn he struck William OMalley, of Wells River, who was crossing the street.

He was transported to the hospital for treatment.

Slater’s vehicle sustained damage to the windshield.

Police say they believe that the glare from the sun may be a contributing factor in the crash.
