Chelsea man arrested after crashing car, lighting it on fire

WILLIAMSTOWN — A 35-year-old Chelsea man was arrested on multiple charges following a bizarre incident in Williamstown yesterday.

Police were notified of a single-vehicle crash into a telephone pole on South Hill Road at around 3:35 p.m.

The driver was identified as Brody Burke.

Burke was showing signs of impairment, police say.

While Burke was arrested, police say the vehicle he crashed caught fire.

Following an investigation, police say he lit the fire prior to their arrival.

He was transported to the State Police barracks in Middlesex for processing.

While he was being processed he caused damage to the holding cell, police say.

He was issued a citation to appear in court today to answer to the charges of DUI #3, 3rd-degree arson, unlawful mischief, and aggravated disorderly conduct.
