BRADFORD — An Orange County Sheriff’s Deputy and her police dog were injured after being struck by a drunk driver who ran a red light in Ohio on Monday.

Deputy Carry Pine, 39, was taken to the hospital by ambulance with what police say were non-life threatening injuries after the drunk driver crashed into the driver’s side of her car.

Pine, who was in Ohio for K-9 training, was traveling with her narcotics K-9 Diesel, who was in the backseat of the vehicle.

Diesel was seriously injured and taken to a local vet for treatment.

Pine will be released from the hospital on Monday, and Diesel is said to be recovering with his trainer.

The driver, identified as Gregory Miller, is being charged with aggravated vehicular assault with alcohol involved.
