MONTPELIER — A 60-year-old Topsham woman is facing charges after police say she attempted to cash stolen checks in Montpelier.

On October 19, 2019, Bruce Limlaw, 70, of Topsham, told police that checks were missed from his property in Orange County.

Police say a few days later his bank notified him that someone had attempted to cash those checks in Washington County.

After an investigation, police allege that Joan Whiting, 60, of Topsham, was the one who had attempted to cash the checks.

Whiting is due in Washington County Superior Court on March 12 to answer the charges of possession of stolen property, forgery and uttering forged or counterfeited instrument.
