Vershire man arrested after assault inside vehicle causes crash, assaulting motorist rendering aid

HARTFORD — A Vershire man was arrested on multiple charges following a bizarre incident in Hartford yesterday.

Authorities responded to a motor vehicle crash and assault report which occurred on Interstate 91 at around 8:20 p.m.

After investigating, police say Ryan Philbrick had crashed his vehicle during an altercation inside of the vehicle.

Philbrick also assaulted a passing motorist who stopped to render aid, police say.

Police took him into custody and transported him to the Hartford Police Department where he was processed and held without bail at the Southern State Correctional Facility.

He is being charged with DUI, negligent operation, aggravated domestic assault, simple assault, and unlawful mischief.
