Wells River woman facing charges after theft

NEWBURY — A 31-year-old Wells River woman is facing charges following a theft in Newbury yesterday.

Police were notified that a purse was stolen at P and H Truck Stop at around 6:46 p.m.

Following an investigation, police allege that Hillary Hofmann had stolen the purse and its contents, belonging to a 38-year-old woman from East Haven.

Police say they located Hofmann and she was found to be in possession of the stolen property, which was recovered.

She was issued a citation to appear in court on August 26 to answer to the charges of criminal DLS, petit larceny, and possession of stolen property.
