Armed robbery at the Stewarts Shop in West Rutland

RUTLAND — Police are seeking the public’s help in identifying a man who was involved in an armed robbery at a shop in Rutland yesterday.

The incident took place at the Stewarts Shop on Main Street at around 8:51 p.m.

Police say upon meeting with store employees and reviewing video footage, it was found that at nearly 8:45 p.m, a lone white male described as nearly 5’09” tall, and weighing approximately 230 lbs., entered the store.

He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black sneakers, blue jeans, a camouflage baseball hat, and a white face covering/mask.

The man brandished a knife and ordered the clerk to give him the money from the cash drawer, police say.

The clerk opened the cash drawer and handed over a large sum of cash.

Police say the man exited the store and was last seen walking west on Business Route 4.
