KILLINGTON — A 49-year-old snowboarder was rescued safely after a long search in Killington yesterday.

Authorities were notified of a lost snowboarder on the back side of the Killington Ski Area at around 3:00 a.m.

Police say Raymond Park, of Killington, was snowboarding before going out of bounds.

After several hours of trying to return to the trail, he sent his GPS location to a friend just before he lost power to his phone, police say.

State Police Search and Rescue and Killington Search and Rescue Teams located Park at 8:00 a.m. in good condition.

Temperatures overnight were approximately -13 degrees.

Police say Killington Ski Area has a boundary marker to prevent skiers and riders from leaving the ski area boundary.

Skiers and riders are reminded to always stay within the ski area boundaries, let someone know where they are going and if venturing off into the backcountry, be prepared to spend the night in the woods.
