Rutland man facing attempted manslaughter charges after firing gun at vehicle

RUTLAND — Authorities say a 56-year-old Rutland man is facing a slew of charges after shooting at a vehicle at an apartment complex yesterday evening.

Police responded to the crime scene in Rutland at around 4:15 p.m.

According to the police report, Scott Sweet discharged a firearm at the victim’s vehicle in a public place.

The incident caused damage to the vehicle and put the victims in fear of their lives, police say.

Sweet was charged with attempted manslaughter, aggravated assault, aggravated disorderly conduct, reckless endangerment, and unlawful mischief.

Police say nobody was injured during the incident.
