PAWLET — A 43-year-old man was involved in a single-vehicle crash in Pawlet on Sunday.
The crash took place on Waite Hill Road at around 3:46 p.m.
Police say witnesses interacted with a man, who appeared intoxicated, advising he crashed his car and needed a ride.
The witness stated that after telling the man police were called, he departed the area on foot.
State troopers arrived on the scene, located the vehicle, and canvassed the area for the driver but did not locate anyone matching his description.
The following day John Labas, 43, called the police and told them that he was the driver.
Police say Labas was headed east on Waite Hill Road when he failed to remain on the road and crashed, damaging a highway sign and rolling the vehicle onto its roof.
The Vermont State Police were assisted by Earl’s Truck Repair.
