Two men arrested during traffic stop in Mendon

MENDON — Both the driver and a passenger were arrested following an incident in Mendon on Tuesday.

Police say they observed a vehicle headed on US Route 4 at 85 miles-per-hour in a posted 50 miles-per-hour zone.

Police initiated a traffic stop and identified the driver as Lawrence Jackson.

Jackson was arrested for careless and negligent operation.

During the course of the investigation, police found that the passenger in the vehicle, identified as Justin Pogue, had a warrant for his arrest out of Bennington county.

Police say Jackson was transported to the State Police Barracks in Rutland where he was processed and released on citation.

Pogue was transported to the Marble Valley Regional Correctional Facility and lodged on the warrant.
