West Rutland fire considered suspicious

WEST RUTLAND — Authorities are investigating a fire that took place in West Rutland on Saturday.

The structured fire broke out on Main Street at around 12:18 a.m.

Fire crews found the structure with heavy smoke and fire coming from the first floor and beginning to extend to the second floor.

They immediately began fire suppression efforts and due to the quick response and efforts by the fire department, the building was saved.

Police say all occupants and pets within the residence were able to escape without injury.

Members of the Fire and Explosion Investigation Unit responded to the scene and conducted an investigation into the origin and cause of this fire.

The cause of this fire is currently undetermined but is considered suspicious at this time.
