MONTPELIER — A 50-year-old Barre man was arrested on multiple charges following an incident in Montpelier yesterday.

Police say they enacted a traffic stop on a vehicle for traveling 89 miles-per-hour in a posted 65 miles-per-hour zone on Interstate 89 at around 7:10 p.m.

Police say the vehicle attempted to elude them at a high rate of speed on I-89 before turning off I-89 on exit 8.

The vehicle continued to display erratic and negligent operation while attempting to elude police on Vermont Route 2 before coming to a stop.

Police identified the driver as Dan Hanson.

Following an investigation, police found that Hanson had a criminally suspended license.

He was arrested and transported to the State Police Middlesex barracks.
