WILLIAMSTOWN — A 21-year-old man was charged with leaving the scene of an accident in Williamstown on Saturday.

Police say the driver, Micahel Lamberton, 21, of Williamstown, was headed south on Birch Lane when he failed to navigate the right turn toward Weir Road at around 4:00 a.m.

Lamberton crossed into a yard on Birch Lane and turned in an attempt to get back onto Birch Lane.

Police say while still in the yard, the vehicle hit a pump wellhead and became stuck.

Lamberton attempted to free the truck by putting it in drive and reverse multiple times, police say.
Police say the vehicle lost its main drive shaft and mudflap in the yard.

Also, in transit, the left front tire completely separated from its rim and was not located.

Lamberton was cited to appear in court to answer to the charge of leaving the scene of an accident.
