COLCHESTER — Police responded to a five-vehicle crash in Colchester this morning.
The crash took place on Interstate 89 at around 7:40 a.m.
According to the report, a vehicle driven by Morgan Blanchard, 18, of Milton was headed south and while changing lanes struck a vehicle driven by Kristy Cross, 29, of Fairfax.
The collision caused minor damage and stopped traffic on I-89.
David Fields, 60, of Milton, stopped in the road because of the first collision as Roy Graham, 64, of St. Albans came over a crest in the road.
Police say Graham’s vehicle hit the rear passenger side of Fields’ vehicle and went into the breakdown lane.
Elizabeth Towsley, 23, of East Fairfield, came over the same hillcrest and hit Fields’ vehicle and then Graham’s vehicle.
After that collision Towsley’s car caught fire.
Colchester fire responded to the scene and put out Towsley’s vehicle.
Police say I-89 south was shut down momentarily while the fire was put out.
The route remained closed to one lane for an extended period of time as the scene was cleaned up.
