Hardwick man seriously injured during crash in East Montpelier

EAST MONTPELIER — Police responded to a two-vehicle crash with serious injuries in East Montpelier this morning.

The crash took place on Vermont Route 14 at around 8:10 a.m.

Police say that both Harold Patten, 89, of Hardwick, and Megan Maple, 48, of Hyde Park, were headed south.

Maple was attempting to take a left-hand turn into a driveway when Patten passed her, crossing the double yellow lines.

Police say Patten lost control of the vehicle and collided with an embankment.

Patten sustained serious injuries and was transported to Central Vermont Medical Center.

Police are still investigating this crash.
