MONTPELIER — A 25-year-old Montpelier man was cited for negligent operation and resisting arrest on US Route 2 early this morning.

Police say they stopped Philip Mensah for a speeding violation in East Montpelier at around 12:03 a.m.

“Mensah was showing signs of being under the influence of alcohol,” a statement issued by police reads.

Police allege Mensah resisted arrest while he was being taken into custody.

He was transported to the Middlesex barracks for processing.

He was cited to appear in court for negligent operation and resisting arrest on December 5.
