MONTPELIER — A 54-year-old man was charged with unlawful trespass following an incident in Montpelier on Monday.
Police were notified that a man entered the Central Vermont Humane Society from a door not accessible to the general public at around 3:20 p.m.
The man identified himself as Joseph Cross to staff, police say.
Police say Cross had left the area when they arrived.
Yesterday morning at around 8:41 a.m, Cross had returned to the building and attempted to gain entry.
Police say they spoke with Cross and he was issued a citation and released to appear in court to answer for the charge of unlawful trespass and trespassing from the facility.
