MONTPELIER — Two residents of Northfield are facing charges following a bizarre incident in Montpelier yesterday.

Police say they observed a driver traveling 65 miles-per-hour on I-89 switch seats with a female passenger at around 4:28 p.m.

Police initiated a traffic stop and discovered there was a 2-year-old child inside the vehicle.

Police identified the drivers as James Capron, 29, and Victoria Stauff, 21.

Capron’s privilege to drive a motor vehicle in the State of Vermont was shown to be criminally suspended.

He was transported to the Middlesex State Police barracks where he processed.

Police say both Capron and Stauff were issued a citation to appear in court to face charges of reckless endangerment, as well as DLS for Capron.
