EAST MONTPELIER — A 32-year-old man from Barre is facing charges after police say he drove through a closed cemetery gate, drunk.

Police say they located a suspicious vehicle parked at the entrance of Plainmont Cemetery on Saturday, at around 1:30 a.m.

As troopers were pulling into the driveway, the vehicle drove through the closed gate and into the cemetery, police say.

According to police, the driver, identified as Thomas Partlow, was showing signs of being under the influence of alcohol.

He was taken into custody for suspicion of DUI and transported to the State Police barracks in Middlesex for processing.

Police say he is being charged with DUI and unlawful mischief.

He was released on a citation and is scheduled to appear in Washington County Superior Court later in the month.
