WARREN — Police say a Granville man was cited after leaving the scene of a single-vehicle crash in Warren on Wednesday.

The crash took place on East Warren Road.

According to the report, when police arrived, a 2014 Jeep Compass with significant damage was “entangled in an apple tree.”

Police say the operator of the vehicle had fled the scene prior to their arrival.

The Jeep left the roadway and struck a telephone pole before coming to a rest in the tree.

The telephone pole cracked upon impact and had to be replaced by Green Mountain Power.

The registered owner of the Jeep, identified as 53-year-old Kevin Demeurers, later allegedly confessed to troopers that he was operating the vehicle at the time of the crash.

Police say Demeurers was issued a criminal citation to appear in Washington County Superior Court.
