ROXBURY — A vintage truck valued at over $60,000 was destroyed after a fire in Roxbury on Sunday.
The incident took place on West Hill Road in the area of the Roxbury State Forest, at around 3:00 p.m.
The truck, a 1956 Ford pick-up, was fully engulfed in flames on a trail leading into the State Forest when police arrived.
Fire investigators were contacted for assistance in determining the origin and cause of the fire.
Police say the owner of the vehicle, Anthony Demas, 60, of Florida, had been visiting the forest with his wife when he heard the sound of a horn coming from the area where he had parked his truck.
He walked back to investigate the noise and discovered smoke coming from inside the cab.
Demas and his wife were able to get assistance by walking to the road where they made contact with a passing motorist.
Police say an examination of the custom-built 1956 Ford pick-up truck vehicle was completed on Monday.
Investigators say the fire started within the passenger compartment of the truck.
The vehicle was completely destroyed by fire at a loss of more than $60,000.
Police are still investigating the cause of this fire.
