WAITSFIELD — A 59-year-old woman from New York was cited for leaving the scene of an accident and providing false information to police on friday in Waitsfield.

Police responded to Main Street for a report of a two-vehicle crash where one of the vehicles involved fled from the area, at around 10:00 p.m.

Police say the operator of the vehicle was identified as Edith Lundquist of Albany, NY.
Lundquist reported that a vehicle had attempted to pass her, struck her vehicle and did not stop.

Police say a subsequent investigation revealed that the information Lundquist had provided was false.

Troopers say they identified the original crash scene at 3337 Vermont Route 100, where Lundquist’s vehicle left the roadway and struck a gate causing property damage.

Lundquist was taken into custody and transported to the Middlesex Barracks for processing.

She was issued a citation to appear at the Washington Superior Court Criminal Division in December to answer to the charges of leaving the scene of an accident and false information to police.

She was subsequently released.
